Boys layout: ONCE

Image
Yes,  Kiwa was this little once and he could also stay this still long enough to take a photo. Along with Tattered Angels glimmer mist and Tims Distress Stain, I tried Heidi Swapp's Colour Shine and I have to say I like it.  I started with white cardstock and created the base paper and then the paper from which I used my trusty Big shot and Tims Autumn Gatherings die.    I did emboss some flowers on to the base paper just to add a little more texture.   I used some material I had painted with fabric paint as the photo mat    I hope you like it.

Smash Journal for Clementine

Image
The boys had a friend come visit over the weekend and as a little gift they complete a little journal with little things that they have made. The base of the journal is made from an upcycled folder with a recycled denim pocket, clothes pegs and even broken earrings.  The boys copied out some poems and drew pictures and placed them throughout the journal.    Arahi putting the finishing touches to the cover  Here are a couple of the pages         Here is the earring piece that we used   I love the creativity of kids.  It has taken a little time for me to just let them do what they want instead of correcting or adjusting their work to fit how I feel it needs to be.    There are the occassions where it is best that I make the hole or cut the card just in case they lose a finger. but I am learning to stand back a little.

Paper Christmas decorations

Image
Well christmas is not far away and yes,  I am getting the Teachers end of the year gifts started.  Here is one idea I have,  A christmas origami Ball.  I used the latest stampin up xmas designer paper.   I have made these for teh school gala as well.    I will make a gift box for the decoration this week.  Watch this space.

Christmas sweets Wreath

Image
Here is one of the Xmas wreaths we gave to one of the boys teachers last year and I also made some for the School gala.     As with the previous wreaths it take approx 1 kg of lollies and a very sturdy wire ring.  (you can not use a coat hanger) I made the box from scratch use to the size.

Nature Calls

I love this shot taken a couple of years ago of Kiwa playing hide and seek at Flat point beach.  He never quite mastered the rules and kept bobbing up and down as his brother were trying to play the game.  I used a fab new paper range from fabscraps.  I created a layout template and Sarah E and I then, using the same paper and embellishments created a layout each.  Here is mine.      I used a Tim holtz die for the leaf detail down the side and I used some florist wire to give the prima flowers a little more lift.  Hope you like it. This layout received an award in the Scrapbook Awards People's Choice for Oct/Nov 2012

Sneak peek Layout

Image
Here are a couple of layouts that I completed at the recent Scrap2Max scrap camp.   Sneak peek:  This is Tira during our holiday in Hamilton.       I cut the design out of the patterned paper adhered it together with flowers to a contrasting paper.     Cutie:  Kiwa when he was not quite a year old.   Plain black cardstock is used to highlight the beautiful Kaiser paper.  Again I cut out the design from the pattern paper.  I used some prima flowers on top of some Stampin up lace.   Other items:  Kindy glitter and some old jewellery.

My Stash book

Image
Well, only 4 days to go until the gala and here are some of the recycled stash albums I have made for the Art and Craft stall: I used recycled card and envelopes etc and some of my off cuts to create the actual album.   I have made one as a sample for buyers to see how the album can be embellished.    Here are the Stash albums that will be available at the Gala. Each one is quite different and you can use your own imagination on how you place your photos or notes or collectable treasures in side.

Just being me

Yes, another Scrap day with the girls, sorting out our kits for scrap camp in Waipuk in 4 weeks and amazingly I did actually manage to complete a layout and here it is.  My little Kiwa, I created the main paper with a couple of different Glimmer mist colours.  Then I stamped some flowers using Gesso instead of ink to give it a little embossed affect and glimmer misted again.

St James Gala is only 4 weeks away

And here are a couple of the upcycle projects that the boys and I have been making for the craft stall.  Arahi and I found a couple of treasures for under $1.00 that we have transposed.  Here are the first ones:      Amazing what you can do with a little silicon. Tomorrow we are transforming cups and saucers.
