Brothers

Image
This was a photo taken at Wanganui Gardens.  And it took a while to take as the twins wanted a photo with Kiwa but he would just want to run around with Hannah.        I made a photo frame first using twine covered with glue to create the shape of  the frame and then filled the loops with crystal effect.    Once dry I cut the centre out and I also used kindy glitter around the edge.  I made a couple of tags for the boys to write their memories  of our day out in Wanganui with Hannah.

Folded Album Layout instructions

Image
To create the basic folded album layout: I have included the materials that I used for this layout but it does depend purely on how many layouts you wish to have.  For this layout I have used approximately 5 different coloured sheets of 12 x12 card stock (CS) and two sheets of Patterned Paper (PP).  Ribbon and lettering.  This is the finished layout.   OK, here we go.  Cut from a 12” x12” Card stock 4 pieces 3” X 12”.  Score each one at 3” and 6“     These pieces are secured to a 6.2” sq piece of patterned paper or CS as shown above.   I placed a matt on to the top of the album and this can be used to place a photo. The album itself is attached to a 7 X 7 CS or PP piece that has the twine or ribbon attached.   Once this is done you can place this any where on a layout.  I like a lot of stability in a layout so I tend to layer quite a bit. In my layout I used a Base Cardstock (12x12) and then a further layer of CS or Patterned Paper (11.5X11.5)  and then a further piece (8.5 X

Chilling

I took this photo of Arahi after 2 hours of walking around Hamilton Zoo last weekend.   A great time was had by all but there was a lot of walking.      I used Stampin up papers from the new April mini catalogue.  I placed eyelets down the two papers and treads twine to join them together.   I also crumpled up a strip of paper and attached it to the layout with twine.  I placed a pleated ribbon beneath the photo.     The flowers are made from SU papers (6 scallop circles, pinched together and dunked in to water for a couple of seconds. I pressed out the excess water and left the flower to dry)

Easter - Teachers Easter boxes

Image
Here is one of the Easter boxes that the boys will be giving to their school teachers for Easter.       Must admit that I have gone through a couple of Easter eggs already trying to get just to right egg to photograph.

Getting ready for Easter

Image
I have started to prepare a few Easter treats for the boys.  First up is a mini milk Carton which can fit two Cadbury marshmallow eggs.   OK here is my first attempt at providing some instructions:   From card stock cut a piece 8 1/2 " by 7 1/2" Then score as shown.       And then fold the top.  You can either use a clip to close or punch a hole to thread a ribbon through to close.   Embellish away.  I promise as time goes on I will get smart at providing instructions.

Arahi - My Little Tiger

Image
This is a layout using buttons, felt and beads.   This did take a little time but worth every moment.        This is a xmas layout that also uses felt and sequins however by the time I did this I was a little over hand stitching hence only a couple of sequins and blanket sticthing.

Layout questions and instructions

Image
I have had a couple of questions on where I get my ideas from and I can honestly say that they come from many places.   If I see an idea that I like or that I can incorporate into a layout, I note it down in my trusty little journal (only recently started).  It can be as small as a title or as big as an album idea that I change to a mini album for a layout.  I have found that the journal comes in handy for ideas on scrap days at Michelle's or getting Kits ready for Scrap camp, where I will need up to 12 layouts to work on for the weekend.      It doesn't seem to take long to fill, so I am planning on have several journals over the next year.  I often attach templates for fold outs or card ideas.  Above left  is a layout that I am working on now and above is the one that I used for 'Kiwa at 4'.    I had not completed instructions on any of my layout but I have been asked, so I will work on them over the next couple of weeks and place then on the blog for others to u

Kiwa at 4

Image
Saturday Evening scrap booking: I love this photo of Kiwa.  He was sun bathing on the deck and about to have a swim. Just used Stamping up products with the exception of the bingo pens that I dropped on to the white cardstock.              The mini album opens up and has a couple of other photos of my little Kiwa aged 4.

Crafting with Teghan

Image
Sunday afternoon and the weather was not that great so my niece Teghan came over and we spent the afternoon crafting. Teghan made a little folded album, using papers from my friend Michelle and embellishments from my ever growing stash.  Here is the result:      I made a 2011 mini album box, using the same papers gifted from Michelle.  The box stores 12 mini albums , one for each month.        Fantastic afternoon
