A winter day in Palmy

Image
I know I say this alot but I do like this photo of Tira.  Brings back a good memory. It was winter and, as normal in Palmy, it was a coolest day but the boys still wanted to get the water slide out.  So they did after about an hour of sliding down the hill in very soapy water it was time to warm up with a cup of Milo.  This is Tira waiting for someone to offer to make it for him.  Yep, stencilling again.  Don't worry it shouldn't take to long for me to move on to another technic.

Sweet layout

The boys with their great grandmother.  They were about 2 months old and she was about 96 years old at the time.   Lots of lovely Prima flowers and yes I stencilled again with modelling paste ( I just love the stuff)

Memories can be relived with the help from a layout

I truly find scrapbooking the most relaxing thing I can do after a day at work  (it does also makes looking thru a photo album a little more interesting)  here is a layout from the weekend at scrap camp.   This photo brings back memories.  Tira would sit in the window and watch cars go by and as they did he would call out the colour.   red, red, black, green, blue, blue etc,  you get the picture.  So cute, he would have a drink and a plate of sandwiches and sit these for ages, much to my amasement.

Scrap camp Waipukurau

Yep,  another scrap camp has past and yet again another great weekend away with a great group of scrappers.  Many thanks to Steph and Jean from 'Scrap 2 the max' for planning the event.    I managed to get a few layouts completed and here are a couple:  As you will see I am a little hooked on stenciling at the moment so most of the layouts I did have some but in saying that the following one without any stencilling.   In this one I used two different stencils  And this layout I have entered into the 'Scrap the boys' blog October challenge.  I used Bo bunny paper which I stencilled with 2 different stecils, one to give the cracked effect at the top and the fern looking stencil on the bottom corner.  The following one I just love the photo of Gregor and Arahi.  I used a Nic Howard Engraver kit. There are several more layouts that I will blog over that next few days and I even managed to start the teachers end of year gifts:

Prep for Waipuk scrap camp this weekend

Image
Can't wait, only 3 more days and we will be on our way.    I have made up a few kits in preparation for camp, including the one below.   Myself, Sarah and Michelle did manage to get a photo of us at a recent get-together and I am making up kits for us to finally put the photo in layout during the camp.  Here at the examples the girls had to select from.  a little more work in this one as there is stensiling to complete.

Another year gone and 12 months to the next

Great fun was had by all at the Gala.  yes even with the rain the school had a wonderful fundraising event and we did pretty good.   Here is some of the craft stall. From my stash of goods I made I sold everything bar one Memory box and a couple packs of cards.  So Gregor is happy that I did bring too much home.  What an amazing bunch of crafters we have associated with the school, we had Wool hats,  Knitted slippers, Bunting, home cushions covers, decorative hearts and birds, handmade teddies, just to name a few of the craft goodies.  Just wonderful.   And yes I finally have a new camera, so once I have figured out how to use it my photo quality will improve.  And the zoom is amazing,  I can see my house from work (approx 1.5kms in a straight line).

Only 4 days to go until the gala

Yep,  it has been a busy couple of days just getting the last of my things made for the St James gala.  Heres are some of the memory boxes.  And here are a couple of the pocket albums that I have made.   I love these, they just so cute. Here is one that I have partly completed as a sample of  how the album can be used.       Hope to see you there.

A Julie Nutting Doll stamp Card

Image
I purchased this wonderful stamp by Julie Nutting (Prima) which I used on my memory boxes and thought I should finally use it on a card and here it is:  Yep, I used a real peacock feather on the back of the stamp.    As the card is not the standard 6 x 4 so I made a special envelope to house it.  Hope you like.

Punch packs - Gala mania

Image
Still preparing stuff for the St James Gala.  Not long now.  Here are some card and scrapbooking punch packs that I have made up.   Packs of 50+ butterflies, great for cards and layouts and a  selection of tags packs and scallop flower packs.

123 Me

Image
Yep,  it is not very often do I do a layout of me and this is mainly due to the fact that I don't have many photos taken as I am usually the one behind the camera.   Using white cardstock as my base,  I stamped around the edges with a couple of random stamps.  With bubble wrap I stamped across the centre of the page and once dried,I used the same bubble wrap to press gesso across the same space.   I also embossed butterflies on to the base once the gesso was dried. I used a scented embossing powder (peach). And like most of my layouts,  it will be on display on a recipe stand until  I complete the next layout.

Me and my man layout.

Yep,  an old photo taken at my brothers wedding.  And yes Gregor is in a Kilt.  Got to say that there is something about a kilt that I really like.   So I do make him wear one as those important occasions. I stenciled the base paper of layout with Gesso and I used an old chain for an embellishment. I used foam tabs for the matting of the photo.  Prima flowers just can't be beaten.

Another of my little charmers

Image
This is a photo taken at a family photo shoot.  The shoot was at a local stream and unfortunately at a time of the day when the sand flies were out in force.  Very annoying but luckily we did manage to get some great photos of the boys.  I used just SU papers in this layout.  I machine stitched around the base paper and the matted photo.    First time for a while that I have had the sewing machine out so got a little carried away and stitched the letters and tags as well.      Place a little tag journal at the back of the photo mat.  Tira likes his layout, which is the main thing.  .

White with 1, August layout challange

Image
I am following a blog call ' White with 1 ' (yes, great name) and they have a monthly challenge which I thought I would have a go at this month.  This month (August) the challenge is White + Pastels + Mask.  Here is my first layout.  Anyway,  I masked some driftwood first and then added some gesso waves just to continue the wave line from the photo.  Lastly I placed some shells that the boys had collected.  Very simple really.

Memory Journal and box

Image
Another week gone.  The weather is not that great at the moment so all the more reason to stay in doors.  The kids seem to pick up anything that is going around and when they are not well they are hard to entertain but with all that I did manage to  complete a couble of things over the past month.  First is a memory box and journal.   The box I made from scratch using cardstock and a very basic template.  1 and 1/2 inches (4cms) sides and the base 1/8th inche (5mm) bigger that the journal that is to be placed inside which for this box was 7 and 1/8th (18.2cms) So in this case, I cut a 10 and 1/8 inche square,  scoring 1and 1/2 inches in on all sides, I then cut a tab in each corner and folder up to make the box base.  The lid is the same construction but I reduced the sides by a1/4 of an inche and added a further 1/8th to the base measure to allow the lid to fit over the top of the box base.    The journal is parcel folded.  when opened, reveals a selection
