Upcycling the every day envelope

Image
I still get snail mail from those companies that still like that personal contact with their customers and because I can not bring myself to just recycle the envelope and have decided to make them useful again,  at least for a short time or if the person who receives it is like me they will have a junk journal to put it in, for memory sake.  Here's  what I created.  And the process:   The envelope..... I washi taped the edges, and scrap matted the front and back of the envelope....   love the envelope window I am going to make a card to go in the envelope.   A card that enhances the window, I think.  Hope you like.  Happy crafting J

Junk journal weekend

Unfortunately I got an early start this morning as my neighbor decided at 5.30am to wake everyone up with 30 minutes of fireworks. I was n ot a very happy person as this is usually the only day I get to sleep in.   So after not being able to get back to sleep,  as my mind was too busy thinking of ways to get him back, I got up and found my happy place by doing some crafting.  The results:  An envelope journal and a one sheet (12x12) fold-away journal And how you ask? Well here are some photos I prepared earlier:  The envelope journal is a repurposed A4 envelope:     The second journal is from a 12 by 12 piece of card stock.   Embellishments added   closed Opened   OK,  time for a nap.  Happy crafting. Special 3D card, for that special someone.

I loved this card the moment I saw it.   Making it, did take some time and also 4 times more material than  I would normally use for a card.  But for those one off cards for a special person it is worth it.  So back to basics, here are my notes for making the card and I hope they make sense.  The joining the card sections together is pretty self explanatory but here are some more photos that show the placement of the matted design pieces.   Tip:  start with the center tower and build the card sections up from that point.  embellish any way you like.  You will see that the have made little tag envelopes that I have attached to the inner side cavity of the middle sections.   The front panel I have attached with 2 pieces of cardstock folded in half and stuck to the front tower section at the fold and the panel       I hope you give this one a go. Let me known how you get on by leaving a co...

Sorting my craft stash

Image
Isn't it amazing when you start the clean up and start to sort through what should stay, what needs to go and what you actual get rid of.   For me my rubbish bin is not used that much and I tend to keep just in case.   The funny thing is that this is just one box. A true crafter can look at the smallest piece of paper,   and know that they could use that some where - move that to the save pile.  Happy crafting J

A day crafting with recycling.

Terrible weather here today, raining and thunder and lightening overnight, so a good reason to stay indoors and craft.  So I have a reasonable amount of craft stash and then there is my weekly container of recycling so decided to use a little of each and here is the result.  Here is what I started with:  Rice bubbles and Cornflakes boxes from which  I made into a Junk Journal cover.        Used a concertina spine to eventually attach the internal pages. The cover is double thickness to give some stability to the journal so that once the pages are included they will be supported  Once the cover was completed a started the pages.  I use my scrap stash for this:      Here are the internal pages.        Hope you like.  Happy crafting J
