Don't forget to put the Advent Calendars out tonight

Image
I just remembered in the nick of time,  to get the boys Advent calendars out this evening.   As usual I have only put in a couple of days worth of treats as Kiwa,  has in the past,   eaten everything in one go.   I made these kaiser craft advent Calendars a couple of years ago and they are wonderful.  Enough room for a couple of chocolates in each box.  So the twins have the green one and Kiwa , as he like to remind me on the odd occasion that he was born all alone,   has the red one to himself.     If you have the opportunity made one, as they will made great heirlooms for the kids.

My little Mischief boy.

Here is a layout that I completed using Spice Cake - A new Stampin up designer series paper range about to be released with the December 2011 mini catalogue.  This photo was taken at Hamilton Gardens,  Kiwa was meant to just wait for Arahi and Tira so I could take a photo.  Instead he put on his holdie and walk into the fountain area and proceded to stop the water from flowing,  all the time hoping that I would not turn around and catch him -  wrong!      I used the large scallop punch to make the flower embellishment on the side.  I used glimmer mist to alter the colour of the Fleurette's and chipboard flourish.  I also used a Prima Antique Mirror on the layout.

Christmas Gift box and Sweets Wreath.

Christmas box and Sweets Wreath.  I created this box using scrap cardboard.  I covered it using Kaiser paper from their 25 D ec collection.  I used the Stampin up ornament punch to make the embellishments on the top (4 punch cut outs in each.  Each lolly is attached individually to a wide frame, which can also be hung up.       I also made a couple extra for the School gala

Christmas Crop with Secret Squirrel Paper Craft

Image
What a fantastic Crop 10.00am to 10.00pm.  I spent to day scrapping and chatting and eating,  a great way to spend a Saturday.  Here are some of the things I completed.  In this layout I used Tims Holtz papers. I tore strips of paper and then wove it in to a mat.  This I used as my base.  The small pieces I had left I used to make the embellishment in the right hand corner.     This layout I used some papers that I found at the TYPO shop in the plaza.  Not too badly priced. I also used a prima felt branch and a couple of prima flowers   This layout I used prima flowers.

A plan and the result

Scrap day at Michelle,  I took my handy dandy note pad and pick a layout at random and here is the result.   Nice and simple, just paper and pen.

Christmas gift 1 - Chocolate box

Image
Here is one of the gift boxes that I am making for the boys teachers end of year gifts.  I will probably put in chocolates or make a lolly wreaths or something similar.  For this 10 inch square box (2 inches high),  I used chipboard covered with SU Jolly holiday paper.  As the box will most likely be used to carry around a kilo of lollies (the wreath is made used a kilo of lollies),  the bottom has 2 layers of chipboard for support.  The top is embellished with a leaves cut using the big shot and kindy glitter for the bling. I used the new SU 'Take a spin' stamp set for the spinner on top.

fly high, reach for the sky - Interactive page layout

In this layout I used the main paper as the inspiration for the pocket for the photos.  Each mini kite opens to reveal the photo and text.

Come on Christmas!!

Image
Yes, the Gala is been and gone for this year.  A great event and wonderful fundraising for the school.  In the craft stall we raised more than last year which is wonderful in the current economic climate.  So what next?  yes Christmas my favourite time of the year.  Over the next few weeks I will be making the Boys school Teachers gifts and gifts for family and friends.   Plus now I am back to scrapping in my spare time and I have managed to take even more photos.  I also went to Paper Parfait again this year, and again another wonderful event put on by Secret Squirrel and PN Stamp 'N' Scrap.  Here is my take on the challenge at the friday night crop:   Using Kaiser papers,  I cut out the circles by hand and arranged them in a heart shape in the centre of the page and made a little flip album for my journalling.         I love this photo (and I am bound to use it again)  It was taken at the Hamilton gard...

Recycled Chocolate box

Image
I have had this old chocolate box for a couple of years now.   Originally it was cardboard cover with tartan paper.  I have used scrap paper and a scallop circle punch to make the scalloped flowers.  The centre flower is using my new EK border punch.

Butterflies and more butterflies

Here are a couple of items that I have made for the up and coming School Gala.  The Big Shot and Stampin up Butterfly die are perfect for pieces like these.  Wall hanging:    Butterfly brooches and clips:

Now and Then

Image
It is not very often that I actually scrap photos of Gregor and myself and this is mainly due to the fact that I am usually the one behind the camera so most of my photos are of my boys. I cut half the label template out on double side patterned paper and then folded it to reveal the back pattern.  I cut around the flowers and tucked the folded section underneath to hold in place.    The flowers are made using my big shot and a sizzix 3d flower die, which is fantastic.

Recycling tins

Image
Yes,  again with the gala stuff, but here are some recycled large coffee tins that I have re-crafted into Treasure tins.  Hopefully I will get at least 6 made to sell at the St James Gala.      I use the handy dandy Zyron which allows me to apply the paper with a lot more easy and some what quicker than double side tape.  4 Stripes of 1x12 inches strip to make the rosette and then I used the even more handy dandy big shot and sizzix flower for the centre flower.  I covered the tin and flowers with Mod Podge.   On the lid I adhered some scallop punched flowers.

St james Gala update

Image
Well,  the gala is only just over 5 weeks away.  I have started my stuff for the craft stall and here are some of the BFF (best friends forever) mini tag albums.   Last year one lady purchased them all!!    They are very simple to make.  Taking about 30 minutes for each one. 1 sheet of Cardstock will made 2 album covers and then I use small envelopes and scrap pieces of CS for the inside.  A little ribbon and some wool embellish the spine.

Time for Fun

Image
I purchased a paper package from Up2scrap - Hot of the press - 'Time for fun' and I did this layout using the NZ Paper Chase August challenge template.   I cut half of a frame from the base paper and folded it down.  As the paper is not double sided I inked the back with SU inks (tango, olive and razeberry).  I stamp and cut out the leaves from recycled paper which has given it the texture look.          For the tags I used a chain off the price tag from a dress I recently purchased.

Karate Man - scrap day

Image
Another Scrap day with the girls today and here is the layout that I completed.  Yes,  here is my Karate Man, some what younger than he is today.       Kaiser craft papers and Thickers plus a couple of skewers.
